Week 37

I'm thankful I am now 37 weeks pregnant. This is where the baby is considered "full term" even when my due date is three weeks away.

I got my Group B Streptococcus or GBS results back and sure enough I have it. I cried because I thought I had a terrible disease. I don't like the sound of having any bacteria or infection because I kept thinking they're all bad. Do you feel that way too if you were to find out you are infected with some kind of bacteria or something?? I know I shouldn't be worrying and that it's bad doing so but sometimes it just happens. I still trust in Him for everything. Anyway, my doctor said it is common in some pregnant women and that it comes and goes. I asked her why do I have it, she replied "because you're normal" and smiled. I think she was trying to make me feel better because my tears kept flowing down. I did felt a little better when she said that and that she had it too. I just don't know anyone that has had it besides my doctor. She told me when I go to the hospital to make sure to let them (nurse or whoever) know that I have GBS so that they can give me treatment (Pencillin) during labor and delivery to help prevent GBS from being passed to my baby. Great... I am going to have IVs poking through my veins or something. Ugh!! I was so glad Matt came with me, he gave me a hug and kiss to comfort me and to tell me that it's alright.

Well, I am still 3cm dilated but with 75% thinning compared to last time where I was 50% thinning. Doctor said it looks like she will come in time or before her due date. She is positioned head down. She explained that it looks like my body will naturally give birth without her having to force labor. If the baby doesn't want to come out, then she'll induce labor.

3 cm dilated

Yes it's true!! I went to the doctor today and she said I am already 3 cm dilated. Wow, I didn't even know it! Yes, the baby can come anytime now. YIKES! She asked me if I have already packed my bag, I said no... she told me to do that tonight. I'm doing just that. I have a few things left to pack and then I'll be done. I just can't believe I am already 3 cm dilated! I haven't felt any contractions yet (just backache and swollen hands and feet) but I know I'm having them already. I just haven't noticed them but the doctor said I'll know when they'll become stronger. She said once I am 10 cm the baby is ready to come out. That's only 7 cm left! I've heard that babies can come quickly within minutes or a week later when a woman is 3 cm dilated at 36 weeks or so. But then I read that I can even be dilated at 3 cm up until her due date or perhaps earlier.

The doctor asked me if I wanted to induce labor. Of course, I said no! That's because I wanted her to come out when she's ready. I am only 36 weeks. I hope the baby holds on a little longer until she reaches "full term" which starts at 37 weeks thereon. I'll be more relieved with either that or until I take birthing class which isn't until the 27th or 28th of this month. We'll see what happens.

I'll start seeing my doctor every week now until she comes...

Cracker Barrel outing

Sharon invited me to have lunch with her mom Rhonda White and Pattia Lane. We had a nice get together for lunch. I don't get to see Sharon and Rhonda often so it was good to see them. They even got me a baby monitor from my BabiesRUs registry! How sweet!

There's something I've been wanting to say...

Believe it or not, me and Sharon Aslin are due just a day apart!! It wasn't planned or anything... it just happened to be that we're both due in October! Sharon is due October 10th and I am due October 11th. Not only that, we're both having GIRLS!! How crazy is that!? And to have our baby showers the same exact day!? What's next?? Sharon said something like we might end up having our babies the same day! Hmm...

(Oops sorry Sharon, I know this is a bad picture...well, of me! You look cute!)

Pattia and Rhonda

Thank you so much for the baby monitor, Sharon and Rhonda!
